Best Time to Visit Türkiye: A Season-by-Season Guide

When is the best time to visit Türkiye? Spring and autumn suit every region; we compare weather, crowds, prices, snow and Eid travel season by season.

Türkiye spans several climate zones: Marmara and the Aegean are temperate, the Mediterranean hot and dry, the Black Sea cool and rainy, and Central Anatolia continental. The answer to 'when is best' therefore depends on where you are going. As a general rule, April–June and September–October are comfortable everywhere; July–August suits the coast and the Black Sea, and December–March brings snow to Uludag, Kartepe and Cappadocia. That is why we recommend our Trabzon Tour (4 Nights / 5 Days) for summer and the Istanbul & Cappadocia Package for spring and autumn.

Spring (April–June)

Tulips bloom in Istanbul in April, temperatures are 15–25°C and the museums are free of summer crowds. Cappadocia has the fewest balloon cancellations. It is the ideal temperature for walking around Ephesus and Pamukkale. The sea reaches 23°C in Antalya by early June. With Gulf schools still in session, this is the best time for couples without children and long-weekend breaks.

Summer (July–August)

Most Gulf families travel in this period, and two routes stand out: the Black Sea (Trabzon, Uzungol, Ayder, Rize) is cool and green at 20–26°C; Istanbul is warm at 28–32°C but not humid, and the Bosphorus breeze cools the evenings. Antalya and Bodrum exceed 35°C and suit only pool-and-beach holidays. Sapanca, Abant and Bursa's Uludag are cool day trips from Istanbul. In this season Trabzon flights and Uzungol bungalows sell out two months ahead.

Autumn (September–November)

September is the most balanced month of the year: the sea is still 26°C, cities are 22–26°C, crowds have thinned and prices have dropped. In October the valleys of Cappadocia turn gold and it is the second-best month for balloons. Rain starts in November, but Istanbul's museums and bazaars are quiet and hotel rates are at their lowest.

Winter (December–March)

Istanbul is 5–10°C, rainy and occasionally snowy; it suits short breaks focused on shopping and museums, and hotels are up to 40 percent cheaper. Snow on Uludag and Kartepe begins in December and lasts until March; for many Gulf children their first snow experience happens here. Cappadocia is very photogenic under snow but balloon cancellations rise. Antalya is mild at around 15°C in winter, good for golf and a quiet holiday.

Ramadan and Eid

Ramadan and the two Eids move about 11 days earlier each year, so always check the dates when you plan. The next Ramadan is expected to begin around 8 February 2027, with Eid al-Fitr expected around 9–11 March 2027 and Eid al-Adha around 16–19 May 2027; each date may shift by a day depending on the moon sighting. During Ramadan, iftar tables in Istanbul, the illuminated mahya lights at Sultanahmet and the Tarawih atmosphere are a special experience for Gulf guests, and restaurants stay open during the day. In Eid al-Adha week hotels fill months ahead and prices rise, so we recommend booking about three months in advance. Turkish public holidays (23 April, 1 May, 19 May, 29 October) do not affect museums but increase city traffic.
