Byzantine & Ottoman Relics Tour
Full-day Istanbul Old City tour of Byzantine and Ottoman relics: Hagia Sophia, the Blue...
Gallipoli and Troy day tour from Istanbul: Anzac Cove and the 1915 memorials on the Gallipoli Peninsula, then the UNESCO-listed ancient city of Troy, with lunch.
This long day trip from Istanbul links two of the most famous battlefields in history. You are collected from your Sultanahmet or Taksim hotel between 06:00 and 06:30 for the 4.5-hour drive to Canakkale, with rest stops on the way. On the Gallipoli Peninsula your guide takes you to Anzac Cove, the cemeteries and the Turkish and Allied memorials of the 1915 campaign, telling the story of the landings and the defence.
After lunch you cross to the Asian shore of the Dardanelles to explore ancient Troy, a UNESCO-listed site whose layers span thousands of years and where the legend of the Trojan Horse is retold. The day lasts about 16 hours, so bring a hat, water and comfortable shoes for the open terrain. Transport, guiding and lunch are included; entrance fees are not.
