Sapanca & Masukiye Day Trip from Istanbul

Overview

Two hours from Istanbul: a village breakfast beside the waterfall in Masukiye, the Kartepe cable car and cycling by Sapanca Lake, the green escape Gulf families love most.

You are collected from your hotel at 08:00 and, on the two-hour drive towards Kocaeli, our team explains the plan for the day. First stop is Masukiye: a 20-item spread breakfast at a wooden village restaurant set on a stream inside the forest, with honey, clotted cream, village eggs, hot gozleme and pots of tea. Children paddle in the stream while parents drink tea; you spend two hours here.

In the afternoon you head up Kartepe: the cable car climbs to 1,600 metres, with forest views and cool air in summer, snow and sledging in winter. Then the shore of Sapanca Lake: bicycle or electric-scooter hire on the lakeside path (children's bikes available), pedal boats on the lake and photos on the pier. Families who wish can shop for local honey, jam and handmade soap at the village market; lunch (not included) is at a lake-view grill restaurant with a halal menu.

You leave Sapanca at about 18:00 and are back at your hotel by 20:00. The group tour is 75 USD per person (maximum 14 guests, Arabic/English guide). For families of up to six, the same programme runs privately with your own vehicle and driver for 260 USD, with timings adjusted to your preference.
