7 Best Places in Türkiye for Gulf Families

From cool highlands to lakeside bungalows, from shopping to halal all-inclusive resorts: the seven places in Türkiye Gulf families enjoy most, and who each suits.

Most of the families we host come from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait and Qatar. These are the places Gulf families enjoy most, based on what our guests ask for and rebook, and on the days that end with children climbing back into the van without tears. Here are our seven picks and who we recommend each one for.

1. Istanbul — every family's first stop

Hagia Sophia, the Bosphorus, the Grand Bazaar and the malls easily fill four days. Families staying in Fatih find Arabic-speaking restaurants, pharmacies and barbers; Sultanahmet is within walking distance of the mosques. For children, cycling on the Princes' Islands, Miniaturk and the Vialand theme park; for parents, the Grand Bazaar and Istinye Park. The Bosphorus breeze keeps the city liveable in summer heat, but in July–August combine Istanbul with the Black Sea.

2. Trabzon and Uzungol — the coolest summer escape

When Riyadh is 45°C in July, Uzungol is around 22°C and everything is green. Lakeside bungalows have kitchens and sleep 5–6; breakfast is taken as mist settles on the lake. Sumela Monastery, Ayder plateau and the Haldizen drive fit into four days. In our experience it is the destination Gulf families rebook most; between June and September, book flights and bungalows two months ahead. A private vehicle with an Arabic-speaking driver is a must in this region.

3. Sapanca and Masukiye — two hours from Istanbul

The most practical choice for families who do not want another flight or who want to add a night or two of nature to Istanbul. Village breakfast by the stream, the Kartepe cable car, cycling by the lake and snow in winter. Family bungalows with jacuzzi and garden have one price for five people. The day trip costs approximately 75 USD (prices change, so ask us on WhatsApp for the current rate); a two-night stay lets you rest from the noise of Istanbul.

4. Antalya — pool, beach and kids' club

Türkiye's capital of the all-inclusive resort. Many properties in Belek and Lara meet a Gulf family's needs in one place: halal menus, kids' clubs and water slides, and some also offer ladies-only beach hours. The Land of Legends theme park and Antalya Aquarium are two full days for children. May–June and September–October are ideal for temperature; in summer spend midday by the pool.

5. Bursa and Uludag — snow and Ottoman heritage

Many Gulf children see their first snow on Uludag; sledging and skiing from December to April, cool forest by cable car in summer. The calligraphy of the Grand Mosque and the Green Tomb are for parents, Iskender kebab is for everyone. A day trip from Istanbul or one night at a thermal hotel in Cekirge.

6. Cappadocia — see it once

Sleeping in a cave hotel and watching hundreds of balloons from the balcony in the morning is a memory children retell for years. The balloon flight is for ages 6 and up, but watching is open to everyone. Pottery making in Avanos, the horse farm and the classic car tour are family-friendly activities. The underground cities have narrow passages; families with small children can stay on the upper levels. Two days by plane from Istanbul is enough.

7. Fethiye and Oludeniz — the calm lagoon

The almost waveless, shallow, turquoise Oludeniz lagoon is one of Türkiye's safest beaches for small children. The 12 Islands boat trip, a cool-water walk in Saklikent Canyon and paragliding for ages 6 and up. Calmer, smaller and greener than Antalya; Dalaman Airport is about 1 hour 20 minutes by plane from Istanbul.

How to combine them

7 days: Istanbul 4 + Trabzon 3 (summer) or Istanbul 4 + Antalya 3 (spring/autumn). 10 days: Istanbul 4 + Cappadocia 2 + Antalya or Fethiye 4. 5 days: Istanbul 3 + Sapanca 2. In every combination the same Arabic-speaking driver and a 24/7 WhatsApp coordinator are the backbone of the programme; when requesting a quote, tell us the children's ages and preferences such as prayer-time planning, and we build the itinerary around them. If you prefer a ready-made plan, our Istanbul Tour (7 Nights / 8 Days) and Trabzon Tour (4 Nights / 5 Days) come at a net price, and the Istanbul & Sapanca, Istanbul & Antalya, Istanbul & Bursa and Fethiye & Oludeniz packages, as well as Cappadocia 2 Days by Plane, follow these same combinations.
