Türkiye Visa & Entry Guide for Gulf Travellers

Türkiye visa guide for Gulf travellers: visa-free entry for GCC citizens, e-Visa rules for residents with other passports, documents, customs and overstays.

Entry rules for Türkiye depend on nationality, and they are currently straightforward for citizens of Gulf countries. Holders of Saudi, Emirati, Kuwaiti, Qatari, Bahraini and Omani passports enter visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days within any 180-day period; the passport needs at least 6 months' validity (150 days in some cases) from the date of entry. The passport is stamped at the border and no further documents are required.

Residents of the Gulf with other passports

The rule is different for Gulf residents holding other passports (for example Egyptian, Pakistani, Indian or Filipino citizens). A Gulf residence permit alone is not enough: you can obtain an e-Visa only if your nationality is eligible for the conditional e-Visa and you also hold a valid visa or residence permit from a Schengen country, the US, the UK or Ireland; otherwise you need a visa from a Turkish consulate. Apply for the e-Visa only at the official evisa.gov.tr; look-alike intermediary sites charge two or three times the fee. The fee is 20–60 USD depending on nationality, paid by card, and approval usually arrives by email within minutes.

Passport and documents

All travellers are advised to hold a passport valid for at least 6 months with at least one blank page. Children under 18 travelling with both parents need no extra documents; children travelling with one parent or a relative should carry a notarised consent letter from the other parent (in Arabic and English). Return tickets and hotel bookings are rarely requested, but having them speeds up passport control; your Nivo Travel booking documents and package confirmation, for example for the Istanbul Tour (7 Nights / 8 Days), serve this purpose.

At the airport

Passport control at Istanbul Airport can take 30–60 minutes in summer; the e-gate system is for Turkish citizens only. Gulf citizens entering visa-free join the 'All Passports' queue. At customs, personal belongings, personal gifts within the duty-free allowance and 200 cigarettes are allowed; cash above 10,000 EUR must be declared. If your flight lands after midnight, passport control is usually faster.

Overstays and extensions

The 90 visa-free days are counted within any 180-day period. Those wishing to stay longer (for example families staying for the whole summer) can apply to the Migration Office for a short-term residence permit; the application is online and appointments take 2–4 weeks. Overstaying results in a daily fine on exit and possibly an entry ban, so watch your dates.

Health and insurance

No vaccination or health certificate is required to enter Türkiye. Travel health insurance is not mandatory but strongly recommended because of private hospital fees; it is mandatory for residence permit applications. For Nivo Travel guests, 10-day Türkiye-wide insurance can be added to the booking for about 25–35 USD per person.
